Each year Sailing Ventures organise cruising in either the West Country, Brittany and the Channel Islands or Southern Ireland. Our popular cruises can combine learning with adventurous family holidays whilst testing one’s sailing and navigational skills to the full. These areas are noted for their charm, secluded anchorages and magnificent scenery, which is why we keep going back.

Sailing Ventures offer you the opportunity to participate in some of the most exciting yacht races in the world, including the famous Fastnet Race. Previous experience is not essential to race with Sailing Ventures providing you have determination and a will to compete. Good introductions could be the annual Round the Island Race when over 1400 yachts circumnavigate the Isle of Wight or the Lymington spring and autumn series sailed around the cans in the Western Solent. Yacht racing is definitely a challenge, but it is also very stimulating and rewarding.

Sailing Ventures offers the RYA Sail Training programme, encompassing careful structured instruction from the absolute beginner through to Yachtmaster. The RYA scheme can be joined at any level, with the required previous knowledge and experience, and Sailing Ventures will be pleased to advise and help you to choose the appropriate course. Our instructors are fully qualified to teach the complete range of RYA courses.

Sailing Ventures shore base in Iver, South Bucks has full facilities available for RYA theory courses from Day Skipper, which introduces basic seamanship and navigation to Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Offshore, with more advanced navigation and meteorology up to Yachtmaster Ocean, covering celestial navigation and world wide meteorology. The intensive courses take place over five days with a maximum of 8 students or at night school over 22 winter evenings, usually followed by some nautical chat at the "club" bar.

Own Boat Tuition

Sailing Ventures offers instruction aboard your own yacht which can range from consultancy on safety equipment, confidence building within a new sailing location to the full RYA training programme. Your instructor will teach any aspect of seamanship required which could be very useful for family and friends.
